Inspiring Quote
"Greatness of simplicity lies in the complexity that has been overcome." — Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
What does your workday and workspace look like?
My day usually begins with a morning run, breakfast, and a cup of coffee. Before diving into work, I like to explore interesting front-end resources, stay updated on IT news, and look for alternative solutions to challenges. The day officially starts with a daily team meeting where we discuss our plans. While coding, I sometimes play lofi music—it creates a comfortable atmosphere for deep focus. On my desk, there’s always a little rubber duck, my trusted debugging companion!
What is most important to you in development?
What excites me most about development is the opportunity to create not just code, but functional and aesthetic solutions. I love it when a website is not only visually appealing but also lightning-fast. Optimization is my priority—from load speeds to efficient data handling. And crafting animations and interactive elements? That’s my special passion—adding a touch of magic to interfaces.
What tools do you use in your work?
The tools I use depend on the task at hand. For coding, I rely on editors like PhpStorm and VS Code. For streamlining development processes, I use Webpack and Gulp. I also work with CMS platforms like WordPress, Laravel, and OpenCart, writing scripts in PHP. For design, I turn to Figma, Adobe Photoshop, and Illustrator. Collaboration is essential, so I use GitHub and Bitbucket to work seamlessly with my team.
Tell us about your journey into development.
Interestingly, I’m a mechanical engineer by education, having graduated from Kryvyi Rih National University. However, I’ve always been drawn to programming, particularly the visual side. Eventually, I realized that front-end development perfectly combines engineering logic with creativity. It feels like building digital bridges between ideas and reality.
What three qualities are essential for a front-end developer?
The most crucial quality is a constant curiosity for learning—technology evolves every day. The second is patience, especially when chasing down elusive bugs. Lastly, it’s the ability to think both as an engineer and a designer, finding the golden balance between technical feasibility and creativity.
How do you unwind from coding?
Programming is more than a job; it’s a mindset. But switching off is important. I’ve found balance by regularly reading not only technical literature but also books from related fields. I enjoy fiction too, like The Art of War by Sun Tzu, which offered surprising insights into strategic approaches to development. I’m also a huge fan of sci-fi—not just books but movies as well, both fictional and scientific. Interestingly, some interface ideas come to me after watching these films.
